What are reading strategies? which strategies should a teacher use for teaching a reading?

" For most second language learners who are already literate in a previous language, reading comprehension is primarily a matter of developing appropriate, efficient comprehension strategies"(Brown & Lee, 2015, p. 410).


Reading strategies is the broad term used to describe the planned and explicit actions that help readers translate print to meaning. Strategies that improve decoding and comprehension skills benefit every student, but are essential for beginning readers, struggling readers, and English Language Learners.
The reading strategies are divided into three parts: pre-reading, during reading, after reading which are:

On the other, teachers should be able to use these strategies by considering the class's needs and check which strategy would work better for a lesson.
