In Canada, there are many programs and tests with different acronyms for ESL learners.

AEPUCE ( Academic English Program for University and College Entrance) by Red River College,
and IAEP ( Intensive Academic English Program) by University of Manitoba. These programs are
suitable for learners with benchmark 7 which prepare students to obtain the English language requirements
for entrance to academic programs at a college or university.

PBLA ( Portfolio-Based Language Assessment)  is a teaching and assessment model designed to enhance
nationwide consistency and standards of quality in English as a Second Language (ESL) training for adult
newcomers to Canada.

CLBA ( Canadian Language Benchmarks Assessment ) is used to determine a newcomer's English language
proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing at various stages of development.

CELPIP ( Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program). There are two versions of the CELPIP
Test: the CELPIP-General Test and the CELPIP-General LS Test. The CELPIP-General Test is accepted by
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) as proof of English language proficiency for permanent
residency in Canada. The CELPIP-General LS Test assesses functional Listening and Speaking proficiency,
and is accepted by IRCC as proof of English language proficiency for Canadian citizenship.

CanTEST (The Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees)  is a standardized English proficiency
test used to determine if you are able to meet admission requirements of Canadian post secondary institutions
or fluency requirements of professional licensing associations.

CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language) which is a test designed to measure the English language proficiency of students planning to study in Canadian post-secondary institutions.
