Pronouncing /th/

For the learners with difficulties in pronouncing /th/ or /θ/ sound.
Most learners mixed up /th/ sound with /d/ or /t/ sounds. It is essential to practice this sound in the class.

Aim: to understand the mouth and tongue position in pronouncing /th/ sound.

First, identify the position of the mouth and tongue in creating /th/ sound to the class. Show this video on YouTube Here . This video clearly explains /th/ sound.

Ask the students to repeat some words with the instructors in the video. Give students a time to practice. Then, divide them into groups pass out papers with words like thin, weather, cloth (find the complete format Here ). Read some of the words and ask them to repeat after you.
Ask students to write a paragraph or sentences by using these words and read them to other students.
The other practice that you can do is to ask each group to create a tongue twister with provided words and exchange their tong twisters. A nominee from each group has to read the twister as fast as they can. Any group that has more mistakes is the looser. Try to have fun with this game!
